Somalia’s Speaker Chairs 17th Standing Committee Meeting and Oversees Ministerial Swearing-in
The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), today presided over the 17th meeting of the Standing Committee, held at the House of the People and Committees Headquarters in Villa Hargeysa. During the opening session, the Speaker briefed members of the Standing Committee on key legislative matters and bills pending before the 7th Parliamentary Session.
He emphasized the importance of accelerating work on these bills to ensure that the House fulfills its constitutional obligations. Following the briefing, the House Secretary, Hon. Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan (Nuux), administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing, Ayuub Ismaaciil Yusuf.
The Standing Committee members also received reports from chairpersons and representatives of various parliamentary committees regarding bills under their supervision, outstanding procedures, and the anticipated timelines for presenting these bills to the House for deliberation. In conclusion, the Standing Committee reviewed and scheduled sessions for the 13th week of the House of the People, outlining the agenda and work plan to guide legislative activities.
