NISA, with International Partners, conducts successful operation in Tardo, Hiraan region
A planned security operation by NISA in Tardo, Hiran, thwarted Khawarij militants’ plans to intimidate and extort local communities, restoring safety in the area.
The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, on Tuesday carried out a well-planned security operation in the Tardo area of the Hiran region, resulting in the neutralization of up to nine militants affiliated with the Alshabaab militant group. The operation also led to the destruction of a site that had been prepared to harm civilians.
According to official sources, the operation was launched after credible intelligence confirmed that Khawarij militants had established an illegal checkpoint in the area. The group was reportedly planning to extort money from civilian vehicles passing through the route, posing a serious threat to public safety and freedom of movement.
The carefully executed operation concluded successfully, effectively foiling the militants’ plans and restoring security in the area. Authorities emphasized that the action was part of ongoing efforts to protect civilians and prevent armed groups from exploiting local communities.
NISA reaffirmed its commitment to targeting Khawarij elements wherever they operate, underscoring that the agency will continue its relentless campaign against groups involved in violence, intimidation, and harm to the Somali people.
