Minister of Education chairs National Relief Committee meeting to support victims of Zoobe 2 bombing

Mogadishu- Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, the Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, on Sunday chaired a meeting of the National Relief Committee at the Somali National Disaster Management Agency headquarters in Mogadishu.
The meeting came in the wake of the tragic Soobe 2 bombing, which claimed numerous lives and left many others injured.
The committee’s primary focus was to coordinate relief efforts aimed at supporting the victims, especially the orphans and children who lost one or both parents in the attack.
Discussions revolved around ensuring that these vulnerable groups receive not only immediate humanitarian aid but also long-term support to help them cope with the trauma and rebuild their lives.
Minister Abdulkadir highlighted the critical role of the government in mobilizing resources and facilitating partnerships with local and international humanitarian organizations.
He stressed that a unified and strategic approach was necessary to provide effective assistance, prevent duplication of efforts, and ensure that aid reaches those most in need as quickly as possible.
In addition to emergency relief, the committee laid out plans to establish comprehensive educational and psychological support programs tailored for affected children.
These programs aim to provide counseling services, safe learning environments, and continuous educational opportunities to help the young victims regain a sense of normalcy.
The Minister also called on community leaders, civil society, and international partners to step up their support and solidarity. She emphasized that recovery from such a devastating event requires a collective effort and sustained commitment from all stakeholders.
The committee further agreed to launch awareness campaigns to educate the public on trauma management and child protection, aiming to foster a supportive environment that encourages healing and resilience within affected communities.
