Somalia’s leading telecommunication company Hormuud Telecom has refuted allegations in an article published by Foreign Policy Magazine linking it with militant group AlShabaab.
Hormuud said in a statement that it is “disappointed” by the article titled “Somalia is a country without an Army” which the writer “attempted to defame our quality brand and services”.
“The artcle’s allegation that we have plenty of Alshabaab influence to communicate when when fighting is baseless propaganda which is contrary to our company’s core value” the statement partly said.
Hormuud has challenged international media to investigate the company and come up with the alleged evidence of supposed links to Alshabaab.
