Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud met a Djibouti government delegation in Laascaanood, where both sides reiterated Djibouti’s firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and ongoing state-building efforts.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, at his residence in the city of Laascaanood, met with a delegation from the Government of Djibouti that is participating in the inauguration ceremony of the President of the North-Eastern State of Somalia.

A statement posted on the social media account of the Somali Presidency stated: “President Hassan Sheikh shared with the officials the historic gratitude that the Somali government and people hold for the government and people of our brotherly nation, Djibouti, for the unwavering support they have extended to Somalia during the difficult period of defending the country’s sovereignty and unity, and for their continuous solidarity in strengthening peace, state-building, and the progress of our nation.”

For their part, the officials of the Djibouti government delegation congratulated the Somali government and people on their diplomatic successes in preserving the nation’s sovereignty and unity, reiterating once more the firm and unwavering position of the Government of Djibouti regarding the preservation of the territorial integrity and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The delegation from the Government of Djibouti that arrived in the city of Laascaanood is composed of the Minister of Religion and Endowments of Djibouti, Mr. Moumin Hassan Barre, the Minister of Communication, Mr. Ridwan Abdullahi Bahdoon, the Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to Somalia, and other officials.
