Ethiopian troops as part of the AUSSOM operation have withdrawn from the town of Burhakaba after nearly 12 years, with security in the town handed over to Somali forces.
A sensitive meeting held last night at the Somali presidency resulted in a major decision to back the Speaker of the House of the People, Aadan Mohamed Nuur (Aadan Madoobe), as a candidate for the presidency of the South West State.
Meanwhile, several politicians are vying for the South West State presidency. The race is notably contested between the JPS party led by Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and other candidates seeking the position.
