Sudanese Students Arrive in Mogadishu to Begin Scholarship Program at Somali National University
Somalia and Sudan share a long history of educational cooperation. For nearly 39 years, Sudan offered full scholarships to Somali students. “Somalia is now giving back that same support with gratitude,” an official from the Ministry said.
A group of Sudanese students arrived in Mogadishu today to begin their studies at the Somali National University under a new government-funded scholarship program.
The Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education, Farah Abdulkadir, officially welcomed the students at Aden Adde International Airport, alongside the Ambassador of Sudan to Somalia. The scholarships cover full tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend, enabling the students to pursue higher education in Somalia.
Minister Farah said that this is the first batch, noting that more Sudanese students are expected to arrive in the coming weeks as part of the program.

With Sudan currently facing a devastating civil war, thousands of people have fled the country in search of safety. “Somalia stands with the Sudanese people during this difficult time,” the official added.
