Somalia Mourns the Passing of Veteran Diplomat Ambassador Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia extends its deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and the entire Somali nation on the passing of Ambassador Ahmed Abdalla Mohamed, who passed away this evening in the state of Minnesota, United States.

Ambassador Ahmed was a distinguished Somali diplomat who served his country with honor, integrity, and dedication. During his diplomatic career, he held key assignments in Tunisia, Algeria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly during his service in Riyadh. Throughout his service, he played a significant role in strengthening Somalia’s diplomatic presence and advancing bilateral relations with these countries.

He will be remembered for his loyalty, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to public service. Prior to joining the diplomatic corps, Ambassador Ahmed was an educator who taught and mentored generations of Somali students. He was also a journalist who began his media career with the Arabic Service of Radio Mogadishu. His life was a true reflection of service to knowledge, nationhood, and society.

His passing marks a profound loss to Somali diplomacy. He leaves behind a family deeply rooted in national service, including his son, Towfiq Ahmed Abdalla, who previously served as a Somali national staff member in Egypt. His death is mourned by the diplomatic community, Somalis at home and abroad, and all those who worked with or knew him.

The Ministry once again conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives, friends, and all those grieving during this difficult time.

May Allah grant him mercy, admit him to Jannatul Firdaus, and grant patience and faith to all those affected by his loss.
