Somali Army clears roads and neutralizes Al-Shabaab threats between Buurhakaba and Baidoa
The Somali National Army, led by the 8th Battalion of the 60th Brigade, carried out a successful road clearance operation between Buurhakaba and Baydhabo. Explosives planted by Al-Shabaab were removed, and the operation secured key routes while preventing potential threats to civilians.
Additional reports indicate that the Somali National Army, particularly the 8th Battalion of the 60th Brigade, recently carried out road clearance operations between the towns of Buurhakaba and Baydhabo in the Bay region.
The operation targeted locations and strongholds previously controlled by Al-Shabaab in several areas between Buurhakaba and Baidoa, where the group had reportedly been harassing and threatening local communities.
Led by the Commander of the 8th Battalion of the 60th Brigade, Colonel Ali Mohamed Aden, the troops also removed explosive devices and improvised mines planted by Al-Shabaab along key roads, which posed significant risks to civilians and the safe movement of vehicles.
According to a statement from the Federal Government, “The operation, aimed at neutralizing Al-Shabaab’s threats, successfully prevented attacks on civilians by clearing explosives and other hazards along important roads.”
Colonel Ali Mohamed Aden confirmed that the operation concluded successfully and emphasized that the army will continue efforts to ensure overall security throughout the Bay region.
