Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania and Permanent Representative to the East African Community (EAC), Ilyaas Ali Hassan, represented Somalia at the 59th Extraordinary Meeting of the EAC Council of Ministers held at the organization’s headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

The high-level meeting brought together ministers from member states of the East African Community to discuss key issues related to strengthening regional integration and implementing decisions adopted during the recent EAC Heads of State Summit.

During the session, Ambassador Ilyaas Ali Hassan highlighted Somalia’s commitment to regional cooperation and emphasized the importance the country places on strengthening economic, trade, and diplomatic ties with other EAC member states.

He noted that Somalia views regional integration as a crucial step toward promoting economic development, enhancing trade opportunities, and improving collaboration among East African nations.

Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the goals of the East African Community, including deeper economic integration, stronger regional partnerships, and efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability across member states.

The meeting forms part of ongoing regional consultations aimed at advancing cooperation and ensuring the effective implementation of policies and agreements adopted by the EAC leadership.
