Somali Immigration Agency prevents illegal trafficking of a girl to Libya.
The Somali Immigration and Nationality Agency has announced that it prevented an illegal attempt to traffick a Somali girl to Libya.
According to a press release from the agency, immigration officers conducted investigations after suspicions arose regarding the girl’s travel. The inquiry revealed that the girl, who was taken from Lascanood, was accompanied by individuals suspected of involvement in human trafficking.
The agency also confirmed that attempts were made to forge travel documents to facilitate the girl’s departure, but these efforts were blocked thanks to the timely intervention of the officers.
The case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and appropriate action against those involved.
The Immigration Agency reiterated its warning to the Somali public about the dangers of human trafficking and stated that efforts to dismantle trafficking networks will be strengthened. The agency emphasized that protecting Somali citizens is a national priority.
