Jubbaland ministers visit LAPSSET corridor in Lamu to review port, transport, and regional trade projects
“The LAPSSET project is key to boosting economic growth and enhancing trade across East Africa,” said Minister Abdiwahab Ahmed Osman.
The Minister of Public Works and Housing of the Jubbaland Government, Abdiwahab Ahmed Osman, accompanied by the Ministers of Trade, Information, and Health, visited the temporary headquarters of the LAPSSET Corridor Program in Lamu.
During the visit, the delegation received a detailed briefing from the program’s management on ongoing projects, including the construction and administration of the modern Lamu Port, the development of roads, railways, and trade links connecting Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, as well as initiatives aimed at creating jobs and promoting economic growth in the region.
Officials also outlined plans to establish a commercial hub in Lamu, designed to become a key economic center for the region in the future.
