Somalia U17 stun Ethiopia with a dramatic 3-3 comeback in Addis Ababa
The Ocean Stars U17 remain unbeaten after holding hosts Ethiopia in a high intensity contest, keeping alive their hopes of reaching the next round.
Somalia’s Under 17 national football team produced a remarkable performance in Addis Ababa after securing a dramatic 3-3 draw against hosts Ethiopia in the CECAFA East and Central Africa tournament.
The match, which was Somalia’s third appearance in the competition, showcased the Ocean Stars U17’s courage and high level of skill. Despite trailing 3–1 in the final minutes, the young Somali side made an impressive comeback, scoring two quick goals that completely changed the momentum of the game and shocked spectators inside the stadium.
The result means Somalia remain unbeaten in the tournament, having previously drawn with South Sudan and Kenya before holding Ethiopia in an entertaining contest.
The U17 team now face a crucial final group match against Rwanda on the 24th of this month. Somalia must win that game to boost their chances of progressing to the next round of the tournament.
