Somali Ambassador in Ankara holds key talks with Turkish Iinterior minister on residency issues affecting Somali community
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Ankara, Turkey, has in recent months been actively engaged in efforts to resolve challenges surrounding residency permits for members of the Somali community living in Turkey.
As part of these efforts, the Somali Ambassador to Turkey, Fathudin Ali Mohamed (Ospite), held a crucial meeting with the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Ali Yerlikaya on Friday.
The discussions centered on addressing the residency concerns facing Somali nationals and finding lasting, practical solutions to ensure their legal stay in the country.
Ambassador Ospite highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the two brotherly nations in ensuring the welfare of the Somali community residing in Turkey.
He expressed appreciation to the Turkish government for its consistent support and goodwill towards Somalia, acknowledging Turkey’s pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations across various sectors, including education, health, and infrastructure development.
The Ambassador also extended special thanks to Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Ministry for their close coordination with the Embassy in addressing the matter, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of Somali citizens abroad.
Ambassador Fathudin reaffirmed that the Embassy remains dedicated to supporting Somali nationals in Turkey by facilitating legal and consular services, promoting community engagement, and fostering stronger relations between the two countries.
The meeting reflected the long-standing partnership between Somalia and Turkey, founded on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared vision for peace, development, and prosperity for both nations and their people.
