Jubbaland distributes first phase of Saudi food aid to 3,020 families in Luglow.
The Deputy Minister of Relief and Disaster Management of the Jubbaland Government, Mohamed Cusmaan Jaamac, alongside the Chairman of the Jubbaland Refugee and IDP Agency (JUCRI), Cali Aadan Cali, today inaugurated a food aid distribution for 4,020 families affected by severe drought in the region.
The first phase of the aid reached 3,020 families residing in the Luglow area, north of Kismayo city. The distribution comes at a time when drought conditions have severely impacted many parts of Jubbaland, affecting both livelihoods and food security for local communities.
Deputy Minister Mohamed Cusmaan Jaamac expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the donation, which was coordinated with the national organization Tadamun Social Society. He called for increased humanitarian support to help drought-affected populations and emphasized the need for sustainable solutions to mitigate the impact of the ongoing crisis.
“This aid is a lifeline for thousands of families struggling under harsh drought conditions. We urge the international community to scale up support to ensure that vulnerable communities can survive and rebuild their livelihoods,” said the Deputy Minister.
The distribution in Jubbaland marks a critical intervention in response to one of the region’s most severe droughts in recent years, providing essential food supplies to thousands of families in urgent need.
