The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Galmudug State, Ms. Faduma Abdi Ali Faandhe, on Tuesday paid an official visit to the headquarters of the House of Representatives of the North Eastern Somalia Administration, where she was warmly received by the Speaker of the Parliament, Dr. Adan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan.
The welcoming meeting was attended by the Second Deputy Speaker of the North Eastern Somalia Parliament, Mr. Abdulkadir Jama Warsame, alongside other parliamentary officials. Discussions focused on the ongoing parliamentary work in both administrations and explored ways to establish closer cooperation and experience-sharing between the parliaments of Galmudug and North Eastern Somalia.
The two sides emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations, enhancing legislative coordination, and promoting dialogue on governance, federalism, and institutional development. They also highlighted the role of parliaments in fostering stability, democratic practices, and cooperation among Somalia’s federal member states and emerging regional administrations.
Ms. Fadumo Faandhe noted that such visits are essential for building mutual understanding and collaboration between legislative institutions, stressing that cooperation between regional parliaments contributes to national cohesion and effective governance. She praised the leadership of the North Eastern Somalia Parliament for their hospitality and commitment to institutional development.
The Galmudug delegation accompanying the Deputy Speaker included the Galmudug Minister of Planning and a member of the Galmudug House of Representatives, MP Feysal. The delegation is currently in Laascaanood to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the newly appointed leadership of the North Eastern Somalia Administration.
The visit is seen as part of broader efforts to strengthen political engagement and cooperation between Galmudug and North Eastern Somalia, particularly in the areas of governance, legislative development, and institutional capacity-building.
