Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalan Abdi Ali, arrived in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday, leading the Somali delegation to the 2nd Russia-Africa Cooperation Forum Ministerial Meeting.
The two-day high-level diplomatic meeting, taking place from 19–20 December, brings together African foreign ministers and senior officials from Russia and various regional organizations. The forum aims to strengthen diplomatic ties, enhance cooperation, and discuss current geopolitical challenges and opportunities.
The Cairo meeting follows the forum’s first session held in Sochi, Russia, in November 2024. The second meeting focuses on assessing progress on previous agreements and setting actionable goals for the coming year to ensure cooperation yields tangible benefits for all member countries.
The two-day agenda includes expanding trade, attracting foreign direct investment, strategic energy cooperation, and economic infrastructure development—priorities for Somalia and other African nations seeking accelerated economic growth.
Somalia’s active participation underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to diversifying international partnerships, promoting economic diplomacy, and securing support and investments for national reconstruction.
