Parliamentary Finance Committees Conclude Review of Somalia’s 2026 National Budget
The Finance Committees of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia have today officially concluded the review and scrutiny of the 2026 National Budget.
Following a series of consecutive meetings held over several days, the committees thoroughly examined detailed aspects of the national budget, including projected revenues, expenditures, and priority sectors. During these sessions, key budgetary provisions were carefully analyzed to ensure alignment with national development goals and fiscal responsibility.
The committees agreed on a timetable for submitting the official report of the second reading, which will be presented to a joint plenary session of both Houses of Parliament. The budget will then proceed to further debate and subsequent legislative procedures.
The completion of the review process for the 2026 National Budget reflects Parliament’s commitment to strengthening good governance, accountability, transparency, and sustainable development, while ensuring that the budget genuinely addresses the needs of the country and serves the interests of the Somali people.
