Somalia and Türkiye strengthen diplomatic ties in high-level Meeting
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, met with Türkiye’s Ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new areas of cooperation between the two nations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, on Monday received the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, during an official meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.
The discussions centred on advancing the strong and historic relations between the two brotherly nations. Both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation efforts and explored new opportunities to deepen strategic partnerships across key sectors, including diplomacy, development, security, education, and humanitarian support.
Minister Abdisalam emphasized Somalia’s appreciation for Türkiye’s continued support and contribution to state-building, capacity development, and humanitarian assistance. He noted that strengthening coordination would help accelerate joint initiatives that benefit the Somali people and contribute to long-term peace and stability.
Ambassador Aktaş reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to supporting Somalia’s development agenda, highlighting the importance of enhancing collaboration on shared priorities and expanding areas of mutual interest.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to intensify their work on future programs that promote cooperation, reinforce bilateral ties, and advance collective goals rooted in friendship and mutual respect.
