Mogadishu port deputy manager attends intermodal Africa conference in Djibouti

The Deputy Manager of Mogadishu Port, Abdullahi Kaarshe, participated in the Intermodal Africa Conference held in Djibouti City, Republic of Djibouti. The high-level forum was officially opened by the President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh.

The conference serves as a major platform for discussing the strengthening of cooperation among ports, maritime transport stakeholders, and integrated intermodal systems linking rail, road, and sea transport. Deliberations focused on enhancing Africa’s trade connectivity by fostering partnerships between governments, port authorities, and private sector operators.

Addressing the forum, Mr. Abdullahi Kaarshe highlighted the significant progress made by Mogadishu Port in recent years. He noted that the port has emerged among the leading ports in Africa in terms of service quality and operational performance. He further emphasized ongoing modernization efforts, including the development of the new Mogadishu Port project, which aims to establish a state-of-the-art facility to meet growing trade demands.

The participation of Mogadishu Port in the Intermodal Africa Conference underscores Somalia’s commitment to regional trade integration, maritime development, and strengthening its role in continental logistics and transport networks.
