Somali ground forces commander conducts field inspection along Shabelle River in Middle Shabelle region
Ground Forces Commander praises SNA troops’ performance during field visit along the Shabelle River, emphasizing vigilance against Khawarij militants.
The Ground Forces Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), Major General Sahal Abdullahi Omar (Gen. Khalid), conducted an official field inspection of military units stationed along the Shabelle River in the Middle Shabelle region.
Accompanied by senior officers of the Somali National Army, Gen. Sahal first held meetings with the Balcad District administration, led by District Commissioner Mr. Qasim Ali Noor (Qasim Furdug), as well as commanders of SNA units deployed in the riverine areas.
During the visit, Gen. Sahal commended the dedication, discipline, and bravery of the ground forces, who continuously engage in operations to neutralize terrorist threats. He urged military commanders to intensify their efforts and maintain high readiness to strengthen security across the region.
The Somali National Army’s ground forces continue to conduct extensive operations targeting Khawarij militants, who threaten the safety and future of Somali communities. Recent successful missions have brought significant security improvements and stability, benefiting local residents.
Gen. Sahal reaffirmed the Somali Armed Forces’ commitment to protecting civilians, maintaining national security, and ensuring peace in vulnerable areas, highlighting the critical role of ground forces in safeguarding Somalia’s territorial integrity.
