The Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ali Yusuf Ali Hoosh, has arrived in Pakistan on an official working visit, leading a high-level delegation aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Pakistan.

During their stay, the Somali delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior Pakistani government officials to discuss cooperation in key areas, including national identification systems and civil registration, electoral processes, democratic governance, and humanitarian assistance.

The delegation was warmly received upon arrival in Islamabad by officials from the Government of Pakistan, along with the Ambassador of Somalia to Pakistan, Sheikh Noor Mohamed Hassan.

The visit brings together senior Somali officials from critical national institutions, reflecting Somalia’s commitment to institutional development and international cooperation. Members of the delegation include the Chairperson of the National Independent Electoral Commission, Abdirahman Ahmed Hassan; the Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), Abdiwali Timacadde; the Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Macallin; and the Deputy Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Osman Abdullahi Kaniif.

Officials say the visit is expected to enhance knowledge exchange and technical cooperation, particularly in strengthening Somalia’s national ID system, improving voter registration and election management, promoting democratic institutions, and enhancing disaster response and humanitarian coordination.

The trip underscores Somalia’s efforts to deepen partnerships with international allies as part of broader reforms in governance, security, and public service delivery.
