Somali National Army conducts operations against Al-Shabaab in eastern Hiraan

The Somali National Army (SNA) has carried out planned security operations in areas of eastern Hiraan region, forcing Al-Shabaab militants out of key locations as part of efforts to enhance civilian safety and restore stability.

According to a statement released by the military, the operations are part of ongoing campaigns aimed at dismantling Al-Shabaab strongholds and liberating areas where the group has been hiding and operating.

The Commander of the 27th Division of the Somali Ground Forces, Brigadier General Ali Cagay, said the operation forms part of the broader “Enemy Cleansing” campaign, which seeks to relieve Somali civilians from abuses and intimidation carried out by the militant group.

“The Somali National Army is fully committed to ensuring security, protecting civilians, and continuing operations against Al-Shabaab until the group is completely eliminated from the country,” the commander said.

He added that the operations were conducted in coordination with ongoing national security efforts to stabilize liberated areas and prevent the group from regrouping.

The latest military action comes as the Federal Government of Somalia continues to intensify security operations in collaboration with national and regional forces, with the aim of creating a safe environment for communities and supporting long-term peace and development in the country.
