Peace returns to Aboorey as Somali forces dismantle militant network.
The Somali National Army (SNA) carried out a carefully planned military operation in the Aboorey area of Hiraan region, targeting Al-Shabaab militants who had been operating in the area.
The operation, led by Commander Dhamme Naqiib Abdullaahi Hersi of the 8th Division, 18th Battalion, first unit of the Gorgor commando, focused on neutralizing leaders responsible for orchestrating explosive attacks against local communities. According to the commander, several key operatives involved in planning and executing attacks on civilians were successfully eliminated.
“This operation was carried out with precision to ensure the safety of local residents while dismantling militant networks that threaten the region’s stability,” Commander Naqiib stated.
The SNA emphasized that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, strengthen security, and restore peace in areas previously affected by militant activities. Local authorities confirmed that security has been significantly improved following the operation, allowing communities to resume normal daily activities.
The Somali government continues to prioritize operations against extremist groups, working closely with regional forces and international partners to prevent attacks and ensure the protection of civilians. Security forces have pledged to maintain high vigilance in Hiiraan and other regions susceptible to insurgent activities.
This latest operation marks another step in Somalia’s ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab, which continues to pose security challenges in central and southern parts of the country. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to bringing militants to justice and restoring lasting peace across affected areas.
