The Governor of Benadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu has expressed his appreciation to the residents of the capital following the successful conclusion of the Benadir Regional Council elections, describing the day as a historic achievement marked by high voter turnout and a peaceful voting environment.
In an official statement issued after polling stations closed across the sixteen districts of Mogadishu, the Mayor praised citizens for their strong participation and civic responsibility, noting that thousands of residents waited patiently to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The Governor said the level of public engagement reflected the political maturity and democratic readiness of Mogadishu’s population, emphasizing that the orderly conduct of voters played a central role in the success of the one-person, one-vote system, implemented in the capital for the first time in decades.
A significant part of the statement was dedicated to the Somali security forces, whom the Governor commended for their professionalism and discipline throughout the election period.
