Somalia’s Transport Ministry denies false reports, confirms license plate services continue.

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Somalia has firmly denied false reports circulating on social media and other platforms that inaccurately link the Ministry’s work and public services to alleged disruptions.

The Ministry confirmed that vehicle license plate issuance services are operating smoothly and that there has been no suspension of these activities.

According to the statement, the misinformation is being deliberately spread to undermine security directives issued by the relevant authorities regarding the mandatory acquisition and use of official vehicle license plates. The Ministry alleged that certain individuals are being financially incentivized to disseminate these false claims, serving hostile interests and attempting to erode public trust and lawful enforcement.

The Ministry emphasized that the use of official license plates is vital for public safety, facilitating vehicle monitoring and preventing security incidents that could harm civilians. It also dismissed claims of internal disputes within the Ministry, stating that operations continue in an orderly manner in full compliance with national law.

“Reports alleging internal conflict are completely unfounded and intended to mislead the public,” the statement said.

The Ministry called on security agencies to urgently investigate those involved in spreading the false information and to take legal action against anyone found engaging in activities that threaten national security and public interests.
