Somali parliamentary leaders meet constitutional review committees on progress of provisional constitution
The Speaker of the House of the People of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), accompanied by the First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Ali Shaaban Ibrahim, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Saadiya Yasin Haji Samatar, and the Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, held a meeting with the bicameral parliamentary committees responsible for the review and oversight of the Constitution, as well as the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission.
During the meeting, officials from both committees briefed the leadership of the two chambers of Parliament on ongoing activities related to the review of Somalia’s Provisional Constitution. The discussions focused on progress made, challenges encountered, and next steps in advancing the constitutional review process.
Parliamentary leaders emphasized the importance of completing the constitutional review in a transparent and inclusive manner, noting its critical role in strengthening governance, federalism, and the rule of law in Somalia.
The meeting underscored the commitment of Somalia’s legislative leadership to overseeing and supporting the constitutional review process as a key national priority.
