US drone strike has targeted and killed four senior Al Shabaab figures on Thursday in Southern Somalia.
Ismail Dhere, Ismail Jabhad and Garissa University College mastermind Mohamed Kuno alias Dulyadeyn were killed in Jungal near Bardere, Gedo region.
According to Spokesman of Kenya’s Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government the attack happened on 2am in Jungal area.
“The drone strike that killed Al Shabaab leaders took place Thursday 2am at Jungal area, between Baardheere and Buur Hajje in Somalia,†said Interior Ministry’s spokesperson Mwenda Njoka on his twitter account.
Kenya which has put bounty on Dulyadeyn believes he was behind deadly attack on Garissa University College that killed over 150 people mainly students.
The attack comes as Somali National Army and AMISOM troops are heading towards Bardere which has been on Al Shabaab hands since 2009.
Al Shabaab has claimed earlier to have repelled Ethiopian troops who are part of AMISOM from advancing towards the town.
US drone strike often targets Al Shabaab leaders inside Somalia, the group founder Ahmed Godane was killed by US drone attack last September.
