At least two Turkish nationals were killed and five others wounded Wednesday in a drive-by shooting in Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu, witnesses and officials said.
The gunmen, who remain at large, were in a minibus when they opened fire at the Turkish citizens riding in a van around 4 p.m. local time.
Four Somali citizens, including two bodyguards, a translator and the driver, who were traveling with the Turkish nationals were killed in the attack. A Kenyan citizen, who was a teacher at a Turkish-run school in Mogadishu, was also in the vehicle was injured, Somali security officials said.
No group has claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s deadly shooting, but the attack bore the hallmarks of Islamic militant group al-Shabab, which has been targeting foreign nationals for years.
