Turkey has expressed concern over the Memorandum of Understanding reached between Ethiopia and Somaliland in Addis Ababa on January 1, 2024, without the knowledge and consent of the Somali Federal Government.
In a statement released by the Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister on Thursday , Turkiye reaffirmed the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia in line with the international law.
Turkiye added that it support the peaceful resolution of the dispute through dialogue between concerned parties in a bid to prevent the escalation of tension in the Horn of Africa region.
Turkiye previously emphasized its position to upholding and supporting Somalia as the East African Nation wriggles out of devastated statehood resulting from the decades long civil war that had crippled critical sectors.
Somalia has in the past two days received support from international and regional bodies and even her friendly countries in its quest to protecting and defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
