Somalia Intensifies Preparations for 2026 National Transformation Plan
Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Da’uud Aweys Jama, has led a high-level technical workshop to accelerate implementation of the 2026 National Transformation Plan. The meeting brought together senior officials to align sectoral priorities with national development goals, particularly in information management, cultural preservation, tourism development, and nationwide public awareness efforts.
Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Da’uud Aweys Jama, on Wednesday chaired a technical workshop on the implementation of the 2026 National Transformation Plan (NTP), bringing together senior officials from the Office of the Prime Minister and executives from the Ministry of Information.
The meeting, attended by the Policy and Inclusive Governance Pillar team at the Office of the Prime Minister, focused on aligning sectoral priorities with national development goals outlined in the NTP. Discussions centered on strategic plans for the year 2026, particularly in the areas of public information, cultural preservation, tourism development, and nationwide public awareness campaigns.
According to ministry officials, these sectors are expected to play a pivotal role in supporting Somalia’s upcoming electoral processes and broader governance reforms. Strengthening communication strategies and public outreach will be essential in ensuring citizens are well-informed ahead of the anticipated national elections.
Minister Da’uud Aweys urged ministry departments to accelerate the execution of activities outlined in the National Transformation Plan, stressing the need for timely delivery, institutional coordination, and measurable results. He emphasized that achieving the goals set for 2026 is crucial not only for the Ministry of Information but for the success of the country’s long-term reform agenda.
“The National Transformation Plan sets the roadmap for Somalia’s progress over the coming years. It is our responsibility to ensure that all programs under our ministry are executed effectively and contribute to the country’s overarching development vision,” the Minister said.
He also highlighted the importance of strengthening societal awareness, enhancing cultural heritage programs, and promoting Somalia’s tourism potential as part of national image-building efforts.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Minister Da’uud Aweys expressed appreciation to the National Transformation Plan team from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry’s leadership for their continued collaboration and dedication. He underscored that joint planning and coordination are key to achieving the ministry’s strategic objectives under the NTP.
The 2026 National Transformation Plan represents one of the Federal Government’s core policy frameworks aimed at accelerating institutional reform, supporting democratic processes, and laying strong foundations for sustainable development.
