The Jubbaland Military Court has today delivered a verdict in the case of Abdiqadir Mahmoud Hassan, an officer from the regional National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), who was accused of killing Aadan Mohamed Madey in a tragic incident that drew public attention.
The ruling, which concludes weeks of legal proceedings, was read out by Lt. Col. Abdiaziz Mohamed Dhagajuun, the presiding judge of the Jubbaland Military Court.
The court had previously held two separate sessions to hear testimonies from witnesses, review evidence, and allow final statements from both the prosecution and defense teams.
Present during the session were relatives of both the victim and the accused, who closely followed the proceedings. After the verdict was announced, family members from both sides told reporters they were satisfied with the court’s decision, describing it as fair and transparent.
In his remarks, Judge Dhagajuun emphasized the court’s commitment to ensuring justice and accountability within the armed forces.
He reiterated that the military judiciary will continue to prosecute any member of the security forces found guilty of violating the law, in order to uphold discipline and protect the reputation of Jubbaland’s defense institutions.
The ruling has been widely welcomed by civil society observers in Kismayo, who say it reflects a growing commitment by regional authorities to strengthen the rule of law and end impunity among security personnel.
