Communications and Technology Minister Jama Hassan Khalif on Saturday kicked off a meeting attended by the heads of the country’s telecommunications companies in the capital Mogadishu.
The discussions focused on the firms’ role in the implementation of Article 49 of the National Telecommunications Act and the Inter-connection Regulation (IR) which instructing the companies to call each other.
Khalif lauded companies for the good work they are doing for the country. “It is their duty to protect and defend the country’s telecommunications companies, which play a major role in the country’s economy,†he added.
The three-day meeting will issues at it’s final day with a communique that will outline the outcomes of the talks. Citizens have been struggling past years for having different SIM-cards due to lack of fulfillment of IR.
