The Minister of Interior of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), who is leading the delegation, held meetings with the traditional elders, youth, and women’s organizations in the town of Garbahaarrey, Gedo Region.
The focus of the discussions was on how the civil society could participate in and support the implementation of one-person, one-vote elections, which the Somali government is planning to hold in the country.
During the meeting, the traditional elders and other community groups presented suggestions and views on their role in ensuring a fair election that everyone can agree upon.
The community emphasized the importance of public awareness and cooperation to establish a democratic system that works efficiently.
Minister Fartaag, speaking at the meeting, encouraged the community to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that the one-person, one-vote election is an essential path to achieving justice and long-term political progress.
The Minister also stated that the government is committed to creating an environment conducive to elections, ensuring that the voice of the people is fully reflected in the leadership of the country.
