Somalia carries out death sentences against two men convicted of killings and bomb attacks in Mogadishu.

The Federal Government of Somalia on Monday carried out death sentences against two men previously convicted by the Military Court for their involvement in killings and bomb attacks in the capital, Mogadishu.

The two men, Hassan Ali Iftin Buule (known as Gacmey) and Hassan Ali Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, also known by the aliases Baari, Biibaaye, and Sacad, had been sentenced to death under qisas (retaliatory justice) after being found guilty of crimes linked to assassinations and explosive attacks that resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.

According to an official statement from judicial authorities, the Military Court of the Armed Forces determined that the men were responsible for acts that caused fatalities and harm to Somali citizens. The executions were carried out following the completion of legal proceedings.

Authorities said the implementation of the sentences forms part of broader government efforts to reinforce security and combat terrorism-related activities in Mogadishu.

The Military Court reiterated that anyone found involved in acts threatening national security will face the full force of the law and be brought before the courts.

The Somali government has in recent months intensified security operations aimed at dismantling militant networks and improving stability in the capital.
