The Ethiopian troops who are part of the Africa Union mission in Somalia have on Sunday released 12 traditional elders who they have earlier kept in custody.
The elders were last week arrested from El-Qooxle location in Galgaduud region in central Somalia.
The arrest of the traditional elders come after they went to discuss with the Ethiopian troops over the killing of 4 men killed by the Ethiopian troops, but instead they were told that they are under arrest for inquiring the reason of the killing of the four men.
“The elders were arrested under no genuine reason, and were are still after the Ethiopian troops to pay compensation over 4 men who they have killed unjustifiably and we have succeeded to release the elders†said Yusuf Gelle Ugas a member of the Somali National Assembly who spoke to the English department of Radio Dalsan.
The Ethiopian troops who are part of the African Union mission in Somalia have several times committed crimes contrary to their duties and responsibilities in Somalia.
