The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, recently met with the acting United Nations Special Representative for Somalia James Swan,
The discussion between the two officials which took place in Mogadishu centred on bolstering collaboration between the United Nations and Somalia, with particular focus on enhancing joint collaborative efforts in humanitarian activities and fostering stability in regions liberated from Al-Shabab militant group.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Barre thanked the UN for its undivided support to Somalia in different areas.
The Prime Minister reiterated the significance of closer cooperation between the two entities in the fight against Al-Shabaab and humanitarian initiatives to assist the Somali people who have been affected by natural calamities.
Ambassador Swan appreciated the warm reception and hospitality he was accorded to and emphasized the UN’S unwavering commitment to continue supporting Somalia in its quest for peace and development.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and the UN Special Envoy underlined the importance of heightening cooperation in line with the national priorities of the Somali government and the challenges afflicting the country.
