Somali President together with senior government officials from Somalia and Kenya has reached the largest refugee camp in Kenya.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was welcomed by Somali foreign minister Abdirahman Hadliye, Somali ambassador to Nairobi Jamal Mohamed and Kenyan interior minister Joseph Nkaissery.
President Sheikh Mohamud together with Kenyan government officials are expected to sit down with the refugees in the camp in an effort to assess the situation.
Somali President who is the first Somali leader to visit Dadaab refugee camp is later expected to return to Kenyan capital Nairobi to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss issues topped by Kenyan government decision to return Somali refugees back home and shutdown the camp.
There are more than a half a million Somali refugees living in Dadaab refugee camp in North Eastern Kenya since the breakout of the civil war in the country in 1990s.
Kenyan government stressed the need to close down the camp and send the refugees back home by November citing security, economic and environmental threats.
