The Somali Government has announced the killing of members of the Somali militant group al-Shabab in combat on Sunday.
During the operation earlier today, the Somali Security Forces said 21 militants were put out of action while ten more others sustained wounds during a planned offensive operation.
The operations were conducted by special trained forces of National Intelligence Agency (NISA) in Galka Salimow village of Lower Shabelle region.
The Information, Culture and Tourism Ministry said in a statement, the military activity was carried out following credible intelligence provided by local people.
“This a big blow to millitants and it means that within four days the National Army has killed almost 200 members of al-Shabaab,†it noted.
Offensive against the group has continued since the government of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud vowed a ‘total war’ against the jihadist who have besieged the central and Federal member states of Somalia.
The group has retaliated by conducting attacks in Mogadishu and other Cities in Somalia as the Army continues to battle the insurgent in central and southern Somalia.
