Jubbaland forces and Danab commandos foil extremist plot in Anjeel, ensuring civilian safety

Jubbaland government forces, in coordination with the Danab commandos of the Somali National Army, conducted a targeted security operation in the Canjeel area, located approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Afmadow in Lower Jubba region.

The operation was aimed at disrupting the activities of extremist militias, known locally as Khawaarij, who were reportedly planning attacks that threatened civilian safety. During the raid, the security forces successfully intercepted explosive devices intended to harm local residents, effectively neutralizing the militants’ planned operations.

A brief clash ensued during the operation, resulting in the death of one extremist and the capture of another alive. Authorities also confiscated motorcycles and explosives that were being used in the planned attacks.

Officials from Jubbaland forces and the Danab commandos described the operation as a complete success, emphasizing that the militant plot in Lower Jubba had been fully thwarted. They further highlighted the operation’s role in strengthening security and safeguarding local communities in the region.

The forces urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies to maintain peace and stability, while reiterating their commitment to combating terrorism and protecting civilians across Jubbaland.
