The semi-autonomous northwestern Somalia state of Puntland is expected to announce its stand regarding the concession of Bosaaso agreement it signed with UAE port operator DP World following the ban on the company by Somalia.
President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali “Gaas” has since Tuesday met with his Ministers and parliamentary Foreign Affairs committee for consultation.
Insiders tell Radio Dalsan that the regional state is likely to disregard the ban.
Puntland signed the 30-year concession for management and development of a multipurpose port project in April 2017.
The $336 million agreement was put in to focus after the controversial tripartite agreement between the Emirati Company, Ethiopia and Somaliland that brew a diplomatic row between Abu Dhabi and Mogadishu.
