HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, today opened the second Somali Leadership Forum in Garowe, Puntland. The Forum is being attended by members of the Federal Government of Somalia and the leaders of interim regional administrations, including Presidents Abdiweli Mohamed Ali of Puntland, Ahmed Mhoamed Islam of Jubba, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden of South West.
The meeting has been convened by the President to provide the opportunity for leaders to discuss activities to help achieve Vision 2016, progress against the Somali Compact, troop integration and the formation of the Somali National Army, equitable resource sharing and ways to solve issues associated with the problems faced by Somali refugees in Yemen, Kenya and elsewhere in the wolrd.
The Leadership Forum was launched by the President and held its inaugural meeting in Mogadishu, February 2015. It will meet every two months with a rotating agenda based on priority items that will contribute towards securing Somalia’s peaceful and prosperous future.
