The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has on Saturday participated in the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Somali Police Force in the capital Mogadishu.
During the event, President Mohamud extended his congratulations to the Senior commanders oficers, Deputy Officers, Inspectors, Corporals, and all members of the Somali Police Force.
The President highlighted the government’s unwavering efforts in rebuilding and advancing security institutions, the liberation of the country, and the democratization process.
He emphasized that the police force must be prepared to fulfill their duties in ensuring the success of the upcoming One-person-One-vote elections in the country.
“The Somali Police Force is recognized for its vital role in maintaining national security. A new responsibility awaits in securing the election areas. There is no path forward except for direct elections, and every Somali citizen must be prepared for this,” President Hassan Sheikh Maxamuud stated.
The President also urged the Police Commanders to perform their duties in accordance with the laws of the country. He emphasized that weapons and equipment alone are not enough, but the commitment of patriotic Officers and Soldiers, dedicated to serving their people and nation, is essential.
The event was attended by Ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia, Members of Parliament, the Commander of the Somali Police Force, Major General Asad Osman Abdullahi, Deputy Police Commanders, former Police Commanders, Ambassadors, and other distinguished guests.
