Somalia’s Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mahad Mohamed Salad, has participated in the 7th Conference of Heads of Arab Intelligence Services, held in Baghdad, Iraq, with the attendance of representatives from 22 Arab countries.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening cooperation, coordination, and intelligence-sharing among Arab intelligence agencies in response to growing regional and international security challenges. Discussions emphasized the importance of collective action to counter terrorism, extremism, and organized crime, which continue to pose serious threats to stability across the Arab world.

Participants highlighted the need for unity, solidarity, and respect for the sovereignty and independence of Arab states, particularly in light of evolving security risks. Special attention was given to joint strategies aimed at preventing terrorist groups from exploiting regional instability and enhancing early-warning mechanisms through effective intelligence exchange.

Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad underscored Somalia’s commitment to regional and international security cooperation, noting that Somalia has gained valuable experience in counterterrorism operations and intelligence-led security efforts. He stressed that continued collaboration among Arab intelligence agencies is vital to confronting shared threats and ensuring long-term peace and stability.

The conference also reviewed current security developments in the region and explored ways to modernize intelligence operations through technology, capacity building, and coordinated training programs. Officials agreed that sustained cooperation and trust among intelligence services are essential to addressing emerging threats effectively.
