Government media directors meet to coordinate drought response messaging.

A coordination meeting of media directors and communications officers from government institutions under the Dan-Qaran Government was held today at the National Emergency Operations Center of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) in Mogadishu.

The meeting, organized by the Media Office of the Office of the Prime Minister, was initially addressed by the Director of Information and Public Relations and Government Spokesperson, Abdinasir Ahmed Bashir. Discussions focused primarily on the country’s worsening drought conditions.

SoDMA presented a comprehensive report outlining the severity of the drought, its impact on communities, and the growing risks of food insecurity. Officials confirmed that 44 districts across several regions of Somalia are currently facing critical drought-related conditions.

The Chairman of SoDMA, Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, who chaired the meeting, concluded the session by emphasizing the importance of strong collaboration between government institutions and the media to enhance public awareness and accelerate drought response efforts.
