Somalia’s minister of commerce visits Qatar chamber to strengthen trade and investment ties
The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, accompanied by a delegation of Somali business leaders, paid an official visit to the Qatar Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation was welcomed by the Second Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba. The meeting focused on strengthening trade and economic relations between Somalia and Qatar, as well as enhancing cooperation among private sector actors from both countries.
During the meeting, Minister Jamaal Mohamed Hassan highlighted Somalia’s vast investment opportunities and encouraged Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Somalia. He emphasized the strategic location of the country, noting its importance for regional trade and commerce.
The discussions also explored potential areas for joint investment and collaboration in key sectors, underscoring the Somali government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector engagement, sustainable economic growth, and regional integration.
The visit reflects Somalia’s efforts to deepen bilateral trade partnerships, attract foreign investment, and promote private sector-led development as a driver of national economic growth.
