Somalia and Pakistan sign visa exemption agreement for diplomatic passport holders

The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have today formally signed a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic passports, eliminating visa requirements for official travel between the two countries.

The agreement marks a significant step toward facilitating official mobility, accelerating diplomatic engagement, and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Asif Ali Zardari, during an official meeting with the Minister of Interior of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Ali Yusuf.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Pakistan by the Special Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mr. Dawood Muhammad Baraech, while Somalia was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Hamza Aadan Haadoow, who was also among the senior officials attending the ceremony.

During the meeting, Somalia’s Minister of Interior conveyed an official message from the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia to President Zardari, reaffirming Somalia’s strong commitment to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations with Pakistan.

The Federal Republic of Somalia expressed its deep appreciation and gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their warm hospitality and continued support. Somalia further expressed hope that this agreement will pave the way for enhanced high-level engagements, sustained consultations, and joint initiatives based on shared interests and mutual cooperation.

The visa exemption agreement is expected to contribute positively to diplomatic coordination and institutional collaboration between the two countries, reinforcing long-standing ties and opening new avenues for partnership.
