Mayor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab) lays the foundation stone for the Boondheere Canal Rehabilitation Project in Mogadishu.
The Governor of Banaadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), officially laid the foundation stone on Wednesday for the Boondheere District Canal Rehabilitation and Expansion Project. This initiative is part of the municipal government’s broader efforts to improve critical infrastructure across the capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Dr. Muungaab highlighted the strategic importance of the project, noting that the Boondheere Canal serves as a key drainage system for five districts in Banaadir Region. He emphasized that the project will play a vital role in improving water flow, reducing flood risks during rainy seasons, and facilitating the movement of both vehicles and residents.
Dr. Muungaab also noted that the project is fully funded by the Mogadishu municipal government and is the third of its kind to commence officially, following prior rehabilitation works on other major canals in the city, some of which are still ongoing.
On electoral matters, Mayor Muungaab urged the residents of Banaadir Region to exercise their constitutional right responsibly and participate in the upcoming local council elections scheduled for December 25, ensuring active involvement in shaping the administrative and developmental future of their communities.
