Somalia participates in second AfCFTA Business forum in Marrakech
Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry participates in the Second AfCFTA Business Forum in Marrakech.
The Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Mahmoud Ahmed Abdullahi (Advocate), participated in the Second African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Business Forum, held in Marrakech, Morocco.
The forum focused on the collective and effective implementation of the AfCFTA, bringing together African ministers of trade, heads of trade institutions, and leading business figures from across the continent. Discussions centered on strengthening intra-African trade, improving market access, and enhancing cooperation among African economies.
During the forum, Deputy Minister Mahmoud Ahmed Abdullahi held high-level bilateral meetings with senior AfCFTA officials, the Prime Minister of Morocco, the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, as well as trade ministers from Tanzania, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Djibouti.
These meetings addressed strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade cooperation, and enhancing Somalia’s role in Africa’s economic integration. Particular emphasis was placed on leveraging AfCFTA opportunities to support Somalia’s private sector, boost exports, and promote sustainable economic growth.
Somalia’s participation in the forum underscores the government’s strong commitment to regional trade integration, effective implementation of the AfCFTA, utilization of regional business opportunities, and strengthening Somalia’s presence on continental trade platforms.
