Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, delivered the opening speech at the 17th annual MEDays International Forum held in Morocco, emphasizing the importance of stronger African leadership in global maritime affairs.

In his address, Prime Minister Xamsa proposed the creation of an African-led maritime alliance connecting Atlantic nations and opening new trade routes between East Africa and Morocco. He also called for the establishment of a Global South Investment Fund and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform to preserve and promote the languages and cultures of Southern Hemisphere countries.

Accompanied by Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalaan Abdi Ali, Prime Minister Hamsa is among world leaders attending the forum. During his stay in Morocco, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with international delegates to strengthen partnerships and advance Somalia’s national interests.

The MEDays Forum serves as a key platform for dialogue on economic cooperation, technological innovation, and regional development, attracting representatives from governments, private sector actors, and global organizations.
